Systems Analysis

Systems are created to solve problems.

All software development starts and ends with a system analysis. The system is the process that comes between the input (i.e. raw materials in a factory, or a call in a call centre) and the output (i.e. a finished product in a factory, a satisfied caller in a call centre). The analysis is looking at that system and finding the weaknesses, inefficiencies, and problems. The solution is not always a piece of software or IT infrastructure, but usually we only get involved where it has already been somewhat determined that there is an IT issue or an probable IT solution. That solution will come in the form of a proposal or specification for a new system to replace the old one, and hopefully the development of that new system.

Most IT professionals will have a lot of expertise in systems analysis and will understand the running and operations of a huge range of companies. The two most senior staff in Kro IT Solutions have probably worked on systems for almost every business sector in Ireland including food production, energy, manufacturing, hospitality, medical care, public sector, insurance, finance, and not for profit. It is genuinely rare that we walk into a business and have difficulty understanding how it works and why it sometimes doesn't work.

It is extremely important to emphasise systems analysis as one of our core skills because the truth is that developing software is relatively easy. The hard part is knowing what to develop and making sure you get it right from the start. A deep understanding of business systems and a true analysis of the problems within them is the key to a sucessful software project. Key to that in turn is time and effort from the business management and key stakeholders in working with Kro IT Solutions to help design new systems. A big software project will involve many meetings, a lot of fact finding, and a lot of effort from all parties. We have the capability and experience.
